Fantastic opportunity for Cumbrian businesses to visit Nissan

SEMTA (The Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies) has secured 25 places for businesses in the North West to visit Nissan on 27th October – this is a great opportunity to visit a world class manufacturing site and talk to those involved.

Cumbria is being given the opportunity to fill the spaces before they are offered out to the rest of the North West, Nissan plant tours are not easy to come by so it would be great if Cumbria could take all 25 places.

In order to participate in the visit you’ll need to complete a short information form with SEMTA and either before or after the visit SEMTA will arrange to meet with you to discuss training needs and ways in which they could support these.

The list of people wishing to take part in the visit will be reviewed by Nissan who retain the right to refuse site access (as would any business wish to), SEMTA will also need to ensure businesses wishing to attend fall within their remit.

Anyone wishing to take part in the visit should reply to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , the first 25 responses will be forwarded to SEMTA for consideration.  If successful you’ll receive a letter of invitation directly from SEMTA.

Creative Circle Social Event 4th August
Creative Circle' up and running.

Essentially, this will start as being just a social meet-up every month or two where creatives from the area can get together, shoot the breeze and what have you. We're hoping this could then extend out further so that we can do a bit of promotion outside the area for the creative industries of Kendal / South Lakes.

Initially, we're looking to have a very informal get together next Wednesday, 4th August at 7:00pm in the Vats Bar at The Brewery Arts Centre . If you could make it along, it would be good to have a catch up and hear any thoughts you may have on the (potential) new group and the sort of thing you'd be looking to get out of it.

PLEASE NOTE: this is definitely NOT a business networking event.

The idea of the Creative Circle has been run past the chief exec at the Brewery and they would be keen for us to have use of the Warehouse Cafe or any other rooms there for future meetings or events.

If there's anyone you think should / would also like to come along, including any of your colleagues, then please feel free to invite them. The sort of people / companies we're looking to get involved are:

•    Designers
•    Web Designers / Developers
•    Copywriters
•    Photography / Video Production
•    PR / Events
•    Marketing

Do you know how to make the most of that golden opportunity, to set your business up for the next 3-5 years?
This seminar is designed to help you achieve exactly that. Having overcome the snow and floods, this summer season is yours for the taking – we want you to grab that opportunity and make the most of it.
