WHEN Technical Fibre Products (TFP), the hi-tech arm of James Cropper Plc, wanted to present their capabilities and product portfolio to the international market, they decided that video was the appropriate medium.

But where were they to find the right provider for this specialist product? “We really didn’t know where to start looking.” says Sales & Marketing Manager Gill Sharpe, “so, as we had done before; we turned to Business Link for help. We’ve always found them to be an excellent resource for finding local professional services.” It was vital for TFP to source a local video production company who could spend time to understand their industry, whilst providing a quality product. Proximity and a personal touch were very important in building a relationship that would produce the right results.

Business Link put TFP in touch with Red Onion, a corporate video production company based in Witherslack. “Red Onion understood exactly what we wanted,” says Gill, “and their ideas convinced us that we should go ahead.” It was also important that the video was internationally understandable as it was to be used world-wide at a variety of presentations and trade shows. 40% of TFP's business is with leading US blue chip companies where they are recognised as being technically creative and innovative. This was to be the central message of the video. “We were not just presenting a visual presentation of a materials manufacturing company,” says George Quayle, Managing Director, “we needed to get the ethos of the company and our partnership approach in a creative way.”

Red Onion filmed every aspect of the business, from the factory floor to the research laboratories and offices. It proved to be a highly enjoyable exercise for the TFP staff and everybody wanted to be involved. The success of the resulting four minute video relies heavily on its visual impact. The pace of the edit along with the juxtapositioning of images and words has provided the perfect vehicle for that creative and innovative TFP image and has already stimulated a lot of interest from potential clients.

So far the video has travelled with the TFP team to Africa, Asia and America and looks set to continue its international journey for quite some time.
